John M Brook BVM&S MRCVS

John qualified from the Royal (Dick) Veterinary College, Edinburgh University in 1969 and returned to Warwickshire in late 1970 having worked in mixed/equine practice in Gloucestershire and North Yorkshire. He took over his father’s long established mixed practice in Leamington Spa in 1971 and built this up to a 3 person practice, increasingly devoting his time to the equestrian side. In 1990 he established the solely equine clinic at Spring Paddocks.

John has ridden all his life, in all disciplines. He evented and rode for the Warwickshire Hunt Pony Club, as well as the University team, when he was silver medallist at the British Universities Championships. He also competed internationally for Scottish Universities.

From the age of 16 he has ridden ‘under rules’ as an amateur rider, latterly in point to points, but now hacks out, hunts when time and opportunity permit and can be found on racedays at Towcester racecourse as part of the veterinary team.

Gemma Carman BVetMedSci (Hons) BVM BVS MRCVS

Gemma graduated from the University of Nottingham in July 2012 and joined us here at Spring Paddocks soon after. She had already spent time with us 'seeing practice' during her time at University and quickly became part of the team.

At work, Gemma particularly enjoys promoting preventative healthcare, especially of older horses, and wound management. She also manages the practice's Social Media sites including Facebook and Instagram.

In her spare time, she regularly competes her horses in a range of disciplines; she has recently achieved good successes at affilliated dressage on her Warmblood gelding 'Mylo'. When not around horses, Gemma enjoys long walks.... especially if there is a good pub at the end!

Olivia Bonner-Evans BVetMedSci (Hons) BVM BVS MRCVS

Olivia joined Spring Paddocks Equine Clinic in July 2017, having completed an internship at TroyTown GreyAbbey Equine Hospital in Ireland where she gained a breadth of experience in anaesthesia, neonatal intensive care, racehorse medicine and post-operative management of surgical cases. Olivia graduated from The University of Nottingham in July 2016 with a first class honours degree.

At work Olivia particularly enjoys lameness evaluations including poor performance cases and is enjoying working with a very different equine population in comparison to the cohort of racing thoroughbreds in Ireland.

In her spare time Olivia enjoys competing her event horse ColdPlay, as well as endurance running, earlier this year Olivia completed the 62km Ultra-Connemarathon in Ireland in aid of Cancer Research UK.
